Name Change Policy
SEM respects the evolving identities and professional circumstances of authors. We acknowledge that requests for name changes may arise from gender transition, marriage, divorce, cultural adaptation, or personal preference. Our policy is designed to protect the dignity, privacy, and academic record of all authors.
Principles
- Confidentiality: All name change requests are handled discreetly. Only staff directly involved in implementing the update will be informed.
- No Public Disclosure: Corrigenda or public notices are not required unless explicitly requested by the author. Silent updates are made to preserve privacy.
- Consistency: Updates are applied across all formats (HTML, PDF) and metadata associated with the article.
Implementation
- Authors contact the editorial office directly with their request.
- The publisher updates the journal’s online platform, DOI records, and metadata subject to the processing charges.
- Where possible, the publisher collaborates with indexing services (Scopus, Web of Science, Zenodo) to ensure the change is reflected across bibliographic databases.
This policy reflects our commitment to inclusivity and respect for authors’ rights, aligning with practices recommended by COPE and leading international publishers.
